Favorite Magazines and Such...

Mmk. So, I don't really have a favorite magazines but I will tell you which ones I read a lot... or a little, whichever. I'm just listing them as they pop into my head and not by preference by the way. Enjoy!

1. Teen Vogue

I love looking at everything that's happening in the fashion world, but it's written for a teenager. The articles they write about such as social issues are good, too. I chose this cover because Zac Efron is really really hot. I'm not even going to hide it. Whew. Smokin'. So you probably can guess that I want to see Charlie St. Cloud reallllllly badly!

2. InStyle

InStyle is fun to read. Well actually, no, I just look at pictures. Hehe. It's a good way to pass time. Especially on airplane rides and road trips! The sad thing is with these mags, is that I'm basically only window shopping, but it's always fun to look.

3. Seventeen

I've been subscribed to seventeen for a long long time now. I think with all of the magazines I read, its only for the pictures. I really enjoy their hair and make-up tutorials, though. And since I'm, er, voluptuous, they have good style advice for my figure which is always appreciated.

4. Uh... Sadly I think that's it

Of course, there's the occasional gossip rag, but other than that, that's all I tend to read.

Huh, I thought there would be more.

Anthem & The Year We Disappeared

Both of them happen to be from my summer reading list.  PS. woo! no make-up and wet hair! ;)

Anthem by Ayn Rand= readable. slow in the first part of the book. About: In the future, everyone is equal, everyone is one together. Equality 7-2521 goes against the crowd and the rules to do what he wants to do. However: I disagree with Ayn Rand's philosophy that everyone should be selfish. I agree that it's good to go against the crowd when the crowd is doing something wrong, but I believe that you can't be so selfish all the time. Sometimes you need to work together. PS. My mother hates Ayn Rand, so I guess I'm kinda biased. HAHA. :)

The Year We Disappeared by Cylin Busby and John Busby= way better than Anthem. mystery/one-of-those-keep-you-on-your-toes book. About: John Busby and his daughter Cylin write about the year John was shot while on duty as a police officer in a father/victim's point of view and a daughter's point of view. Claire's Opinion: Great read, definitely worth it. It can get slow at some parts, but the entire book is true life so nothing is made up to make it more exciting. Actually, I read the book in a couple of days. I really loved it. Expressed how hard it is for a family to recover and move on with their lives after a tragedy/miracle.

Still working on Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (?). Ughh. I really hate this book. So boring. So confusing. Has taken me, like, two weeks to read 45 pages. I wonder if I'll finish it before school starts, but I'm not worried.

Sorry this post was so simple and short, but I'm actually watching TV. Hehe. :)

Still have to remind me to do my favorite (or not so much favorite) magazines. I might do that tonight.

Finished It!

Er, ya, I think you know what I'm talking about. So, Things I Know About Love.

Livia? Or Libia? Sadly, I don't remember her name but I'm pretty darn sure it's Livia. So that's what I'll call her whether anyone likes it or not! Haha. Basically, Livia has been free of leukemia for one year now and takes the time to finally go somewhere and live her life. She decides to visit her loving brother in America where he is studying abroad at Princeton University. When she gets there, she decides to have a lot of fun and possibly a summer romance? Oo La La. All of this while (coincidentally) she records it in her blog including everything she knows about love.

Cute story line, but it was kinda hard to get really into the book, unfortunately. I wish that the author could have lengthened it a bit and gave it more heart and detail, otherwise it might have been a bestseller. You never know, though.

Hmm... I'm not sure if I will be posting soon due to lack of reading material, but I might do my favorite magazines?? Yea, that sounds like fun! Haha, so look out for that soon.

When I Read, I READ :)

I'm actually very surprised at myself. I haven't been reading this whole summer. Lame. But anyways, my mummy took me to the library yesterday and Barnes and Noble the day before. Thankfully, I got some new reading material! *Fist pump* Actually no, scratch that I'm not from Jersey Shore.

From the library, I only got one reading book but then again I was carrying a large stack of photography books as well. Go photography! The reading book is called... Things I Know About Love by Kate Le Vann. I love her last name.

Haven't gotten much into it because I was majorly tired last night but I read the first few pages. Keep you posted, but I have a feeling that I'm going to like it. I mean it starts off with Livia, the main character, thinking that her plane is running into flying turkeys. Yes, I think I will enjoy it.

Now the Barnes and Noble books. I bought Reality Check by Jen Calonita (love her) and One Night That Changes Everything by Lauren Barnholdt. I even managed to finish both of them in one day :)

Reality Check is about four best friends who are found by a producer person from a new network (like MTV) called Fire and Ice. Susan (the lady who found them) is looking for a new reality show and thinks that they're little beach-town is the perfect place to shoot with them being the main characters of the show, but Charlie would be the "leader" of the pack. They all decide to do the show even after hard thinking and a Pro and Con list. But once the shooting has started and the camera's are all on them, will their friendship fall apart just like every other reality show? Remember, friends don't let friends do reality shows. I found the book to be entertaining but also one of those books where you just want to smack those girls silly. I have always loved Jen Calonita's books so this wasn't a let down for me.

Lastly, One Night That Changes Everything. Eliza manages to lose everything... Everything except her purple notebook. Before her family was going to move, Eliza wanted to change and become a whole new person at her new school so she started to write a list of everything she would do at her new school that she was afraid of doing now. Even after they managed to stay at their old town and her family wouldn't have to move, Eliza kept on writing in the purple notebook. Now, her ex-boyfriend stole her purple notebook because of what she said on her sister's website about him. Eliza's worst fears are coming true, and they're making her do everything on her list over the course of the weekend. Dun! DUN! DUNNNNN!!!! I actually loved this book, I would recommend 14+ maybe even 15+ because of some naughty content if you know what I mean... Well not too dirty but naughty enough.

Okay, that's all I've read so far! :) But once school has started I'm sure I'll read more.
