When I Read, I READ :)

I'm actually very surprised at myself. I haven't been reading this whole summer. Lame. But anyways, my mummy took me to the library yesterday and Barnes and Noble the day before. Thankfully, I got some new reading material! *Fist pump* Actually no, scratch that I'm not from Jersey Shore.

From the library, I only got one reading book but then again I was carrying a large stack of photography books as well. Go photography! The reading book is called... Things I Know About Love by Kate Le Vann. I love her last name.

Haven't gotten much into it because I was majorly tired last night but I read the first few pages. Keep you posted, but I have a feeling that I'm going to like it. I mean it starts off with Livia, the main character, thinking that her plane is running into flying turkeys. Yes, I think I will enjoy it.

Now the Barnes and Noble books. I bought Reality Check by Jen Calonita (love her) and One Night That Changes Everything by Lauren Barnholdt. I even managed to finish both of them in one day :)

Reality Check is about four best friends who are found by a producer person from a new network (like MTV) called Fire and Ice. Susan (the lady who found them) is looking for a new reality show and thinks that they're little beach-town is the perfect place to shoot with them being the main characters of the show, but Charlie would be the "leader" of the pack. They all decide to do the show even after hard thinking and a Pro and Con list. But once the shooting has started and the camera's are all on them, will their friendship fall apart just like every other reality show? Remember, friends don't let friends do reality shows. I found the book to be entertaining but also one of those books where you just want to smack those girls silly. I have always loved Jen Calonita's books so this wasn't a let down for me.

Lastly, One Night That Changes Everything. Eliza manages to lose everything... Everything except her purple notebook. Before her family was going to move, Eliza wanted to change and become a whole new person at her new school so she started to write a list of everything she would do at her new school that she was afraid of doing now. Even after they managed to stay at their old town and her family wouldn't have to move, Eliza kept on writing in the purple notebook. Now, her ex-boyfriend stole her purple notebook because of what she said on her sister's website about him. Eliza's worst fears are coming true, and they're making her do everything on her list over the course of the weekend. Dun! DUN! DUNNNNN!!!! I actually loved this book, I would recommend 14+ maybe even 15+ because of some naughty content if you know what I mean... Well not too dirty but naughty enough.

Okay, that's all I've read so far! :) But once school has started I'm sure I'll read more.

High School and all that jazz...

Yes that's me...

It's summer now, which means I have way too much time on my hands. That's okay though, because I don't have to spend my nights slaving away at the homework. Yippee! Although, the work is never too far away. That's right, you guessed it. Summer reading list. All freshmen are required to read Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and Anthem by Ayn Rand. But being the slacker that I am, and with my lack of interest in the books, I will most likely finish them at the end of the summer. Oh well. It will keep my mind fresh.

So, latest books I've read: Giving Up the V by Serena Robar, Little Miss Red by Robin Palmer, and Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson.

Giving Up the V by Serena Robar: UM LOVED IT!! Seriously this author is my new hero. I mean for the kind of teenager romance comedy books. I was smiling the entire time with her witty and sarcastic humor! Not to mention, I fell for a couple of guys in the book. Oops, my bad. Basically, Spencer Davis (yes, she's a girl) has just turned 16, but instead of a car, she gets her first ob-gyn exam. Fun, right? Think again. Her first exam sparks ideas about when she's going to have sex for the first time, although she's determined not to give it away to some stupid boy (a wham, bam, thank ya ma'am kind of guy) who will forget about her. Until she meets Ben, a transfer student who happens to be a gorgeous, funny athlete. Wow. Could Ben be... the one? Very cute book and I would recommend it to any girl of course.

Little Miss Red by Robin Palmer: Possibly the worst book I have ever read in my life, and that's saying something. Ugh. It was horrrrrriiiibbbbblllllllle!!! Don't waste your money! Thank god I didn't...

Lastly, Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson: Beautifully written book and a wonderful eye-opener to what it really feels like to have a traumatic event occur in the worst of times, High School. Go out and buy this book! Anderson has an intriguing way of words while keeping everything witty in her novels. I was required to read this book for my eighth grade English class, but I'm sure I would have come across a time when I praised this book like all others. Laurie used a LOT of symbolism throughout Speak but I personally love it. It's like a puzzle trying to find pieces that fit together. The novel follows Melinda throughout her first year of High School after a traumatic event happened to her at a summer party. Being the one to call the police on the party, Melinda is shunned from her friends and fellow students except for her art teacher, Mr. Freeman. He teaches Melinda to express herself and in the end, find the words to speak up.

Well, I guess that's it for me, but maybe I'll get off my lazy patushka (is that how you spell it Lisa?) and actually do something other than writing about what I could be doing and do it. That might make my summer actually interesting... Hmm...

From my pile of new books. . .

Ohmygosh! Sorry to act all teenager on you but omg! I just read possibly my new favorite book, even better than the Twilight Saga. Or maybe they're tied. Ha!

The book is called Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. For Christmas, i got a ton of books and I'm done with 2 of them. Grace, got attacked by a wolf pack when she was about 12 or 11 years old. The one wolf that saved her has been attached and always watching her for the next 6 years. When a boy at Grace's school gets attacked by the wolves and dies, everyone in their small town wants to hunt down the pack, except for Grace and one of her best friends, Olivia. Once one of the wolves get shot, Grace goes back to her house only to find a naked boy on her back porch with a gun wound. Grace then realises that it's her wolf, only now he's Sam. Realising that Sam may not be able to be human again once he turns back into a wolf, Grace and Sam try to fulfill their time together while they still have it. Sam changes when it's cold, and winter is just around the corner. Once i started reading Shiver, i literally couldn't put it down. I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning just to read the last few chapters.

My other book i received for the holidays, is a book called Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. I have to say it wasn't as good as Shiver or a lot of my other favorite books, but it was a pleasurable read, still. I'm gonna get a little lazy and type up the description of the book on the cover. (I do not want to get in trouble so I'm saying this now: I DID NOT WRITE THIS!)

Romance was not part of Nora Grey's plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how hard her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch comes along. with his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgement.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and seems to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. See, when i read books, if i like them, i finish the book completely and sometimes go back to my favorite parts. If i don't like a book, i normally stop reading them because i forget i was still reading it. I finished Hush, Hush in one day. I finished Shiver in two days. I really liked both books and i would still recommend both to anyone that is interested. :) See you later. I have books to read!! :)

Um HI!

So I've never had a blog before. And i feel like no one is going to read this but I'm going to do it anyways. Another note is that I'm not the best writer in the world so please don't comment "OMG you forgot to add a comma!", because i will only say "Thank you Grammar Police!".

In case you didn't realize from my title, I LOVE BOOKS! Of course, I'm telling you now that i do not read ALL kinds of books. A lot of them are girly. What can i say? I'm watching America's Next Top Model at the moment. Sometimes though, i read fantasy, gothic, or mystery. I also like comedy and series and... who am i kidding?! I love all kinds of books!! :) But i don't necessarily find all of those type books that entertain me... If that makes sense...

So i guess this blog is going to be about me, TheTeenBookBabe (or at least that's what I'm going to call myself), my life, and the books i read!

I will start so soon you wont even have time to miss me!! :)
